19th Domino World Champion 2013: Guðný Ósk Scheving
At the 19th Domino World Championship Guðný Ósk Scheving got the title again to Norway. She is after Walti Bader the second domino world champion, who won the title for the second time.
The matches were held from 27th until 31st December 2013, decentralized at ten places in Norway, Germany and Switzerland. Guðný won all three rounds with clear lead over their fellow players at her hometown Arendal and secured by this result the cup.
At this world championship the placement of the participating players on the current world rankings was – for the second time – no longer considered, so that only the daily form decided. This calculation seems to the organizers more fairly, since following the recent calculation a player could have placed Guðný as second with only two won games.
The expectation for the players from Basel region, who ranked continuously for almost twenty years among the top five of the world championships, were this year pitched too high, since they could not maintain their positions, but placed on a distant 16 downwards on the result list.
