Domino World Champion 2004: Walter Bader

10th Domino World Champion 2004: Walter Bader

The jubilee World Championship set up some new records:

  1. With 75 players at seven places in three countries we met the highest participation so far at a World Championship. And that despite of several players who were unable to participate: The team of Northrhine Westfalia was travelling to Austria with about 200 (felt) children. Family Neukamm just started that very day travelling to their one-year-stay in Australia and in Schwerin two players were missing to be able to build up a third team. So Anke and Hartmut Stein accompanied together with Frank Lindemann the World Championship with a non-evaluated double-15 game and had their fun for themselves.
  2. For the first time former World Champion Walti Bader won this title a second time. His cup will most probably receive an honour place in the Grenchen »housewife team«.
  3. Almost unnoticed by the public Vice World Champion Henning Stein was able to maintain his position. We are eager to learn whether his trick, not to play during the year for earning a compassion bonus as »newcomer« in the championship will work a third time.

Title holder Ingo Rickmann contributed decisevely to that new record of participation, since Garbsen can now be named as new Domino stronghold in Germany, showing 15 players there. In a separate evaluation during the event Jürgen Polley was declared City Champion of Garbsen. The local press contributed with four articles to that important competition in the world of sports of Garbsen. Ingo Rickmann proudly presents all this on his new website dominoplayers.de (German language only).

Even the bronze title winner Patrick Rentsch was enthusiastically celebrated by the press of Northwest Switzerland. His local community donated a shopping voucher.

The players of the JUVENTE Winter Camp in Bielefeld managed again to participate – maybe this place might not be fiction.

Further meetings were held in the veteran camps Arendal (Norway), Wallrabenstein (Germany), Ettingen and Grenchen (Switzerland). The central evaluation this year non-spectacularly took place at the FIDO headquarter in Geesthacht, Germany.
